Cape Town Clubs With a Kitchen and Cafe

Cape Town has endless bars and restaurants, sure. But sometimes you want something different. A place where you can actually hang out all day, get some work done, and grab a proper meal without having to leave. I'm talking about private clubs with a full kitchen and cafe setup. They're your base camp in the city.

Forget what you think about nightclubs. These spots are all about comfort. Picture plush lounges and actual workspaces. The on site kitchen means you can get good food whenever you're hungry. It’s a private, chilled setting where you can get things done or just meet some interesting people. And the key to getting in is something called Zazapass.

What is Zazapass?

So, what's the deal with Zazapass? It's simple. You buy a one year entry pass for a specific club. With that pass, you don't pay the entry fee every time you show up for a full year. You save money and get in quicker, which means less time in line and more time inside.

Just so we're clear, they only sell one year entry passes. Once you buy your entry pass, your Zazapass account shows you the club's exact address. Keeps things private, you know? Each entry pass for a South African club costs EUR 15 for the whole year. You just have to be 21 or older and bring a valid ID.

You can see all the available entry passes on the Zazapass website, or browse the complete list of Zazapass clubs to see what else is out there.

Discover Cape Town's Unique Club Scene

Alright, let's get to the good stuff. Here are a few of my favorite spots in Cape Town that have a kitchen and cafe, where you can get in with a Zazapass entry pass.

The Alibi Cape Town

You'll find The Alibi right in the middle of the action on Bree Street, in the CBD. It's a multi level spot that feels a bit like a secret you've just been let in on. This club isn't just a place for a night out. You can actually use it during the day. Settle into a private lounge for a chat or use their creative workspaces to be productive. The best part is the full kitchen. You can get great food and snacks right there, whether you're grabbing a coffee, having a working lunch, or settling in for dinner. It’s a social spot, a workspace, and a restaurant all in one place. You can get your entry pass and more details here: The Alibi Cape Town.

Nirvana Cafe Sea Point

Over in Sea Point, right by the coast, is Nirvana Cafe. This is another multi level club that's seriously kitted out. It's got so many amenities, it pretty much becomes a second home for people. You've got private lounges for quiet chats, dedicated workspaces if you need to focus, and even meeting rooms. There’s a library if you want to read, and of course, a full kitchen and cafe so you won’t go hungry. Fancy a game of pool? They have tables. Want some fresh air? Head to the terraces. And the free Wi-Fi means you're always connected. Find out more about this place here: Nirvana Cafe Sea Point.

Nirvana Cafe Blouberg

If you want that same coastal feel but with that classic view of Table Mountain from across the bay, then you need to check out Nirvana Cafe Blouberg. It's the sister spot to the Sea Point one, located in the Table View and Blouberg area. You'll find all the same great features here. Private lounges, workspaces, a library, and most importantly, a full kitchen and cafe. It's a perfect spot to work quietly, meet friends, or just eat good food with an incredible view. Same comfortable setup, just in a different part of town. Check it out here: Nirvana Cafe Blouberg.

Beyond Cape Town

This guide is about Cape Town, but Zazapass has spots elsewhere too. They have a partner club in Johannesburg called the Budrock Cafe, which you can check out here: Budrock Cafe.

If you're in Pretoria, there aren't any Zazapass clubs there just yet. Joburg is only about 60 km away, so it's a possible trip for some. Zazapass is always adding new locations, so it's a good idea to check their map or city pages every now and then for updates.

You can always check for new places on the Zazapass map or see the Cape Town city page for the latest local venues. For more tips and info, the Zazapass knowledge base is a good resource.

Understanding the Legal Situation in South Africa

Okay, let's talk about the legal side of things in South Africa, because it's good to know the rules. A big court decision back in 2018 made it legal for adults to privately use, possess, and grow their own cannabis. Then in May 2024, the Cannabis for Private Purposes Act became official law.

What this means is that you, as an adult, can enjoy cannabis in a private setting. Selling it is still illegal, though. You also can't smoke it in public or drive after using it. The clubs I've mentioned are private places, so they follow these rules. They provide a safe spot for adults.

Your Zazapass entry pass just gets you in the door. It has nothing to do with buying anything. I'd always suggest you double check the latest local regulations yourself, just to be sure.

These clubs are a totally different kind of social scene in Cape Town. Because they have kitchens, cafes, and all these other features, they’re more than just a place to pop into. They're real spots where you can spend your time, feel comfortable, and meet good people.
